Lipika Bansal is artistic researcher and social designer working in art, technology and society. She uses a mix of new and old media. In her work she uses co creation and artistic research methodologies, like digital storytelling - and writing with the focus on design for empowerment and change. By mixing people from different cultures, backgrounds and expertises, this combination adds up to more than knowledge alone.

She is also an external promovendus at Systems Engineering, TUDelft, where a research group is formed from artists and designers.

Her specific research is into design for empowerment. Lipika has done field work in New Delhi, India for her PhD, in the area of water and health. Based on explorative research she, together with young women,  has identified requirements for a tool that she wants to develop, namely the Water Phone.
